Transport Assessment / Statement
Utilising DfT guidance, we are able to produce reports addressing the traffic and transportation issues for developments in a range of sectors, such as residential, employment, retail and leisure, for a range of sizes. Collectively, our staff benefit from a whole spectrum of experience spanning the last 25 years in both consultancy and local authority positions.
Keeping up to date with Local and National Government policy while maintaining good relationships with Local Authorities, we are able to offer sound advice to our clients at every stage of the planning process.

Travel Plans
As requirements intensify for Travel Plans as part of the planning process, we are continuing to meet the demands of Local Authorities and offer fresh initiatives as part of our advice.
Our recent work with a number of Colleges has proved successful with surveys being undertaken for over 6,000 students at a time. We have our own online travel package that can be tailored to suit any development while we continue to develop our overall Travel Plan services.
Our GIS capabilities allow us to spatially assess the travel patterns associated with a site and target particular deficiencies with specific initiatives.

Accessibility Planning
Our expanding resources in GIS allow us to offer a range of assessments from simple walk and cycle catchments to comparing the accessibility of a collection of sites based on demographic data. Using accessibility indicators derived by the DfT, our assessments have served as critical elements of several planning inquiries.
Our host of data offers a range of services related to Travel Plans, including production of maps showing local facilities, identifying potential car-sharers and identifying deficiencies that can be readily addressed.

Micro-simulation Modelling
Today's congestion proves difficult to model using traditional junction modelling. Micro-simulation offers a solution that enables assessment of area wide networks, with a mix of junction types and where queuing can affect the operation of nearby junctions. In addition, micro-simulation can be valuable in modelling complex junctions, particularly where minor variations in traffic flow can have a significant impact on their operation.

Car Parking Assessments
Customer parking is a valuable asset to clients and therefore maximising its use is sometimes critical to a business operation. Using traffic surveys, we can undertake an assessment of a car park to identify any abuse by non-customers and advise on a range of parking management initiatives to address capacity issues.

Vehicle Swept Path Analysis
Access to a site must be designed to accommodate the variety of vehicles that will serve it. Our extensive library of vehicle types enables junction design to adoptable standards, while service yards can be designed more efficiently to reduce the footprint. In addition, over-sized vehicles can be assessed for abnormal load routes and construction purposes.

Pedestrian Modelling
Movement of pedestrians in congested environments, such as rail stations, requires detailed assessment to inform the design of buildings and public areas. Our expertise in modelling ensures accurate analysis of pedestrian movement through the study area, identifying hot spots and offering valuable advice in the design process.

Expert Evidence & Witness
Planning appeals are becoming increasingly common and our experienced staff have prepared and presented evidence at over 250 Planning Appeals for a range of development types, along with other Inquiries including Local Development Plan, Compulsory Purchase Orders and Road Inquiries. Our thorough preparation of evidence and knowledge of highway law is rewarded with a high success rate.

Environmental Assessment
The larger projects that SCP get involved with require a detailed Environmental Statement (ES) or Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), prepared by expert consultants. As part of the report, the impact of increased use of various travel modes is required to be assessed for which we have completed a Transport chapter to form the overall ES or EIA.
Our experienced staff can offer the environmental assessment of highway impacts for a range of development types, identifying potential mitigation proposals where necessary.

Urban Design
Modern design solutions offer a sense of place rather than a street full of bollards and signs. From town centre renewal schemes to Home Zones and Quiet Lanes, we have the expertise to offer design and consultation services for a range of urban design techniques using the latest innovations.
Our design solutions are sympathetic to all road users while working within Local Authority guidelines. Our experience of consultation and subsequent review of such schemes ensures a successful result with the support of both the locals and the Highway Authority.
