Case Studies
Birkenhead Town Centre Redevelopment
SCP were commissioned to prepare a comprehensive transport assessment to accompany a planning application for the redevelopment of Birkenhead Town Centre. The proposals incorporated 80,000 sq ft of non food retail development and 90,000 sq ft for a major food-retail operator.
Major highway infrastructure alterations are proposed to accommodate enhanced facilities for public transport, provide adequate car-parking and to improve the environment for pedestrians.
Our assessment incorporated a safety audit, highway design, accident analysis, parking and servicing management plans and co-ordinating statutory undertakers diversionary works. A VISSIM micro-simulation model was developed in parallel with TRANSYT to test the benefits offered by the proposed highway solution, to public transport operators and pedestrians.
